Hamblin Farm

Corbin went on his first field trip today.  Like the typical controlling, overly-involved mother that I am, I was right there with him :)

They took the kids out about 10 miles west of the school to where all the new housing developments are going in in Syracuse and showed us what they were proud to report was the last operating dairy farm in Davis county... until 2 years ago when they sold out.  Now it is an empty farm that the IFA kids from USU let elementary kids tour.

The kids thought it was cool though, they had brought a few petting zoo animals and taught them about plants, animals, and soil conservation.

These cute spring piglets were fun to watch fighting to get to their momma to eat lunch.  One of the kids called it World War 1 of the pigs.

Here they are learning about pesticide run off and how farmers protect the soil and water from people that over fertilize their lawns and what not.

They were SO hyper on the bus!  We got stuck waiting for a train for quite awhile on the way back and soon they were crawling all over and under their seats.  Oh, childhood, so fun.
