Makelle's soccer team all got a free ticket to go and watch an RSL match this season. So we bought some extra tickets to go with it and took the family out to watch them play in the U.S. Open Cup. It was a great game and it was fun to watch the kids, watch the game. Especially now that Makelle has played once, she was actually paying attention to what was going on on the field. She was especially observant about the ball going out of bounds and corner kicks. She would announce it to me every time. I think she was excited to understand what was happening for once, whereas in the past she never really understood the game. The excitement wore off after the game ended up going into overtime and everyone got tired and thirsty, but of course that was the part of the game that Caleb most wanted to see. So I took the kids to the drinking fountain and missed the 2 goals that they scored in overtime, but Caleb assures me they were good goals. On the way home Caleb asked the kids what their favorite part of the game was and Corbin said, "My favorite was when the one guy passed it and that other guy smashed it into the goal and the goalie missed it. It like went straight over his head. It was the best smash ever!"
