Happy Halloween!

I've put on about 10 pounds since we bought the spandex body suit costumes, and it no longer looked quite as good. So I got a back-up costume to wear for most of the day:

Pumpkin Carving

After catching up on my blog back in July, I lost my camera and quickly fell behind again. At this point I have decided I should just move on with current blogs while I wait to find the time to go back and fill in the missed posts from the past 3 months.

We carved pumpkins with the kids last night. As usually, all three of them were grossed out by the "gutting" process and had to be coaxed into touching the inside of a pumpkin.

(Seth grabbed a knife after watching Caleb cut open the tops and tried to cut one himself. Cute kid.)

We managed to pull together matching, family Halloween costumes again this year. We are going to be the Justice League. So we decided to carve (or more appropriately, have Daddy carve) the superhero symbols on our pumpkins.

Caleb is really becoming quite the master carver.

Seth's Birthday Party

We celebrated Seth's first birthday with a family dinner on Sunday. On Saturday we put the kids to bed and then got out his little table and chairs to assemble, so we would have it all ready for his party. 5 minutes in, he woke up and ended up staying up to help us put the whole thing together. Surprise!

For dinner we had Seth's favorite food... all kinds of fruit.

After dinner we had more fruit for dessert. I made him a fruit pizza, that was supposed to look like a soccer ball. My giant cookie design skills could use a little work, but he didn't seem to mind, he dove in before we even had a chance to light the candle.

"What, was I not suppose to eat that yet?"

Grandma Nash, Jan, Ken, Eric, Tyler, Tori, Rachel, Wesley, Grandma Lloyd, Grandpa Lloyd, and Matt were all there with us to sing Happy Birthday to him. But between his painfully shy personality and recent encounter with fire, the candle and song was too much. He burst into tears and dove over the cake to get to his mom.

All was forgotten once he got to eat his treat though :)

Corbin and Makelle were so excited to help him open his presents.

Uncle Tyler and Aunt Tori got him a sock monkey to go with his new nickname. We thought it was pretty clever.

Style

Despite his severe lack of hair, we decided that it was time for Seth to get his first haircut minor trim. He had a couple of those long, old man, wiry hairs sticking is odd directions from behind his ears.

You really can’t tell a difference in the before and after pictures, other than that I styled it as well. But in person he looks much better now.

Although really, who is going to notice the hair anyway with those cute ears sticking straight out?

Mini Golf

Caleb had the day off on Friday so we took the kids mini golfing for the first time.

Makelle is just not competitive and never really got very into it. However, she
did enjoy prancing around in her pink prom dress with her pink ball... she is so weird!! :)

On the other hand, Corbin is already asking if we can go golfing, "like every single time Dad stays home."

We didn't get Seth a club, but he still had lots of fun chasing balls (his latest obsession) around and poking at things.

It was a pretty hot day, so afterwards we went and got a treat at Dairy Queen. Caleb and I decided to just share a blizzard... which resulted in us fighting like little children. "It's my turn, you already had like 3 bites!" Let's just say, it was good :)

Still Friends, After ALL These Years

We seem to have a lot of these pictures… there is just something so endearing about how good of friends these two are though, that I want to remember them at this stage before:

A: Corbin gets older and realizes he no longer enjoys his sister enough to want to cuddle and tell stories with her every night as they are falling asleep, or

B: Corbin gets older and realizes it is creepy to want to cuddle and tell stories with her every night as they are falling asleep :)

We still have to remind them occasionally that they can't marry each other when they grow up, that they are actually going to have to find someone else that they like even more than their sibling. To which they reply, "I will never find someone I like that much."

Camping

We took the kids camping for the first time this season. As the kids get older, it actually gets more and more fun to hang out with them. They are turning into fun little people rather than just time consuming, energy draining little babies... we love you Seth :)

We played Pooh Sticks (as explained in our Winnie the Pooh book), went hiking, searched for geocaches, roasted stuff, played in the dirt, read books, played with glow sticks, threw a football around and had a good time just hanging out as a family.

Buttons.

Last time Corbin was at his Grandma Lloyd's house he told her, "Grandma, do you want to hear something embarrassing?"

"What Corbin?"

"My little sister can do buttons, and I can't." :(

Corbin has always had horrible coordination. He is amazing at pretty much everything... other than, controlling his fine motor skills.

So we sometimes tease him a little and the other day we were getting ready for church and he asked one of us to button his shirt, but we were both busy, so we half jokingly/half seriously told him to go ask his sister to help him. To which he responds, "I already did... she is busy too."

She really does help do up his shirt for him almost every Sunday lately. It is pretty cute/pathetic :)

Water Fight!

Grandma Nash came up for a visit this weekend and brought the kids some little water shooters. Best gift ever! They spent ALL afternoon outside running around shooting water in each other's faces. For once they were actually sad when Dad got home, because that meant it was time to put away the toys and come in. They could have lasted all night too, if we'd have let them.
