Oh, Corbin

Corbin found a pair of sunglasses and loves them almost as much as my swimming goggles that he insists on wearing each week when we go to the pool.

He does look pretty cool though.

On an unrelated note...

Corbin is a very independent child (Caleb claims he is just like me, but frankly I don't know what he is talking about :)

He thinks he is in charge and should decide on everything he does. So in an effort to compromise and come to a working solution for both of us we created a daily schedule for him. Every morning I put up the things that we have to get done and then he is allowed to pick out a few activities to fill in the blanks.

It seems to work pretty well, our days seem to flow a little easier with less opposition every time I try to move into the next activity. Or at least it was until he put his mischievous little mind to work the other day.

"Alright Corbin, if you are done eating please go pick out a book and I'll read to you on your bed before nap time."

"No, it's not nap time yet!"

"Yes it is buddy, naps are after lunch."

"No."

I pull out my new magic weapon: "Yes it is, go look at your schedule."

He jumps down and runs over to the wall: "No, see... next is story time."

??? Did I really mess it up, and now my brilliant plan is backfiring on me?

No. It turns out he is just trying to work the system.

"Corbin, why is nap time down by bedtime?"

"I moved it, now it's story time!"

ABC Pudding

My mother-in-law told me that she taught her kids how to write in the sand. It is easier to form the letters with your finger than it is controlling a pencil.

Since I had just tried out a new vegan pudding recipe and it is cold outside (plus we don't have a nice sandbox anyway) I decided to improvise and use dessert instead.

I could be wrong, but I think it was well received!

Happy Valentines Day!

The single occasion in which late church (that falls over nap time) is actually a good thing with two little kids... is a Holiday.

We got up, passed out Valentines and ate a big, heart shaped breakfast of blueberry pancakes with strawberries, fresh whip cream and syrup on top. Yum!

Family Pictures

Well we finally got around to taking some family pictures, so you will notice that Makelle is now included as part of our family. Lucky little girl :)

Gotta love these little guys!

Bean

He is getting so smart. I LOVE that he enjoys learning and will say, "Can we do something fun?" referring to going through his preschool books with me, among other things, of course. He is like a sponge, he just soaks things up and somehow retains it all. Little kids are such fast learners compared to adults when you consider all the things they are taking in on a daily basis. Genius!

First Steps

Makelle is learning to walk! She takes a few, very slow, methodical steps at a time... which is the exact opposite of her brother whose first steps consisted of leaning his upper body forward, forcing his feet to stumble along behind as quickly as possible until toppling over. Weird how different they can be, even in something so basic.

*Note: Being married to an accountant, I find myself alone at night this time of year trying to record these moments for him to see, and I could have sworn I had the camera positioned better... but when I tried to fix it, she was no longer interested in walking, oh well.
